Automatic vs manual

PJ, good morning. Has the sign in page for driving truth disappeared? I can’t sign in as Brett’s new 2.0 page has blocked the sign in? Do you have the sign in page so I can write it down? Thank you sir

Thanks PJ for the “pat on the back”. As always you speak with wisdom and experience without trying to sway anyone. Your point of testing in a manual trans. will put no restrictions on your CDL and allow you to drive any truck there is. Thanks

I’m late to the party. My opinion is very biased, but the same as several already stated. I drive a manual. I love it. But I do heavy haul sometimes.

Most all mega’s don’t even remember what a manual is, much less have any. That is the smallest portion of the entire industry, although they try their best to rule the industry.

I always advocate for new drivers to test in manuals because that license is good from that point forward. Auto restrictions can and will limit opportunties.

I learned along time ago never say never.

Brett is spot on. In this industry long term thinking is far better than short term thinking.

I understand Errol’s point but that is for the here and now. What happen’s tommorrow??? No one knows.

This entire industry has been upside down the past 3 years or so. I can’t see putting my faith in anything within it. I can write a book of the ride we have been on.

Personally I have only survived because I looked down the road years ago and made myself flexible and versatile.

Navypoppop has met me in person and has a good understanding how I approach things.

I wish Dawg1 success.

I won’t speak for PJ, but I’m not sure what you’re referring to. If you weren’t signed in, you wouldn’t have been able to post this message.

Also, I didn’t block anything; I just updated the truckingtruth.com homepage to point to my new High Road training page.

If you log out of The Driving Truth, then this homepage should allow you to sign back in:

Thanks Brett for the info. I was not trying to imply that you blocked the site. I was used to just signiong in by going to your TT site and use the link but I should have known that was temporary. I have figured it out and sorry for the confusion and I appreciate your reply.

Well fellow truckers,

I passed my rode test in an auto…super happy and relieved, doing the skid pad next week and hopefully securing a job soon after that! I just wanted to say thank you again to everyone who replied and offered their insights into my dilemma, really appreciated that! Anyways, I guess for me now is seeking info on what to get with regards to a driving kit packet (i.e., tools, first aid aid kit, etc) as I prepared for the next chapter of my driving career, super excited! Thanks again people!

CHEERS,

DAWG1

Good luck on your new career Dawg!

Hint: get a decent size box (like a milk crate) and put stuff in it as you think of it. Your sleeper uses size Twin XL sheets, if you want to make up a bed.

Don’t use a suitcase if you can avoid that. (Once you unpack it takes up space). Look for collapsible totes if you go by bus, they’re not good as plane luggage. Or a duffle bag

Keep us posted.
