I just wanted to take the time to wish each and every one here on The Driving Truth a very safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving. Hopefully you are able to be with family and or friends. I can remember back when I was an active OTR driver the many holidays I spent in a truck stop having a free turkey dinner instead of sitting with my family.
Now being retired after my 44 years OTR I am able to choose where and with whom we can enjoy our holidays with. Again, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here on the forum and be safe and secure in all you do.
It makes my day to hear from seasoned otr vets from TT. I’m glad that you are still out there driving and helping drivers anyway that you can with advice, videos and replies. Goes to show that all of us from NJ are not bad. Enjoy your holidays and be safe.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone as well. Im off Thursday through Monday. I may try to work extra if there is anything good available. With how slow it is I doubt there will be unfortunately.
Just wanted to take a minute and send some thanks to everyone out on the road today. While a lot of folks are gathered around tables and warm kitchens, you’re out there keeping the country moving — hauling the loads, covering the miles, and doing the work most people never see.
Whether you’re parked at a truck stop grabbing a hot meal, rolling through a quiet stretch of highway, or waiting to get unloaded somewhere far from home, I hope you get a moment of peace today. You deserve it. Your work matters a whole lot more than most folks realize.
Here’s to safe miles, good weather, lighter traffic, and maybe even a slice of pie somewhere and that hot cup of coffee along the way. Even if you’re spending Thanksgiving behind the wheel, you’re not alone — there’s a whole family of drivers out here who get it.
Stay safe, stay steady, and know you’re appreciated.
The same to you PJ and your family. The wife and I traveled to Lexington Park, MD. to visit our daughter and it’s also her birthday. The traffic wasn’t too bad, plenty of accidents in SC and lots of construction in NC. Be safe and glad we can communicate here on forum.
Just be safe Kearsey! Your good judgment, NJ grit, common sense and experience will let you know when you can safely move. Have a Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Hope you are where you can at least enjoy a good meal. Stay safe.
Don’t feel like a newbie because we all were at one time. Keep posting like you have been and the likes will pill up and before you know it you will feel like a veteran. Happy T Day.
