Hey all… be careful! I am in Morris Il with 60mph gusts. Snow is coming tonight and OH turnpike is closed to trucks due to wind. Nebraska gonna get hit with snow this weekend.
Remember to park it and always ha e water and food on the truck. Fuel often. Antigel when needed. Cover to avoid frostbite.
It looks like winter is just getting fired up. It’s pretty cold, even in my area of the country this early in the season but the Ohio valley is getting all the snow, with even more on the way.
Ive been running in OH, MN, WI, IL and IN. The last couple weeks was from Denver to Rapid City then to upper Midwest.
Haven’t see above freezing since I left Denver and I’ve been in snow most of the time. Still managed good weeks at times but im burnt out on the frigging snow.
I just use our load planners as storm forecasters. Guaranteed that if there’s a storm to be ran through, they’ll find it and send me there.
Tomorrow will be interesting, ill get that clipper that will dump 4 to 8 in Indianapolis metro and then ill run back up to WI, right dead center into the arctic air mass.
Be safe Jay! The weather from West to East has not been very kind so far this season. I am so thankful that my 44 year career is over and I survived a crap load of bad winters. Now it’s Florida retirement where I can hate anything for 40**.*
Hope you guys are all safe and came out the other side of this winter storm unscathed. We sat in Jersey for a couple days before being able to make it to Romeoville IL.
Now we’re sitting till midnight waiting on the shipper to get us loaded for Dallas TX. At least there’s some detention pay in there. Y’all be safe and hope to see y’all on the road sometime.
I’m not on the road, but we had two feet from that storm at my house in Upstate NY. That was the biggest snowfall of the year so far. Fortunately it was super cold, so the snow is dry and light and will be easy enough for the snowblower to handle.
But that storm had no wind or ice where I’m at, and those are the two things that worry me the most. So I’ll take two feet of dry powder anytime.
This kid foes a good job of explaining polar vortex anomalies and why some years we get this weather pattern. Got a good 8” at my house south of Amarillo.
