Got my CDL, got 2 yrs with a company (Schneider)…now I know for sure I want to do nationwide OTR… Schneider tells me they don’t have that option for California drivers. Can ya’ll recommend any good companies for OTR out of Cali?
I’m not sure who’s still standing out there. Legends was at one time big out there and ran mostly 11 or so western states. True coast to coast has modtly gone away in today’s world. If this rail merger goes through with UP and NS it will likely get even slimer. Knight/Swift has a big presence out there also.

Definitely the dynamics have changed. If you’re looking for more of the long runs, true otr style, I’d suggest reefer, usually longer runs but not without its pita factor. As stated, Knight and swift both have presence in CA. Don Hummer is based out of Cedar Rapids IA but does hire out of some areas in ca. They have great equipment, solid pay, lots of work, no nanny state equipment. If you have experience and a clean record, they may be a good fit.
