If you are new and coming here from Trucking Truth with questions

As this site gets built, which will take time, any questions you have about getting started in the trucking industry can be answered here by a community of top tier professional drivers who have met the same struggles and been through what you have. Feel free to ask any questions, reply and get to know us. We are drivers just like you.

There are many sources of misinformation about how to get started in the trucking industry and how to survive your first year. While there are also many paths into the industry, we recommend certain paths for many reasons. Its been our collective and individual experiences that lead us to recommend what we do.

I encourage everyone to participate with questions, replies, knowledge sharing, and wisdom.

Thanks.

Anything in particular you are struggling with?

Is there going to be a CDL training/practice test section like Trucking Truth had? The A.I. High Road 2.0 version was unlike anything I had found for helping study for the CDL/CLP test, it was incredibly helpful!

I will attempt to get one in for sure. I found it very helpful as well.

Today was a much better day at school. Had a near perfect drive in the manual today. Felt like sweet redemption after hitting 2 curbs with the trailer wheels yesterday. Still have another week or so to practice but I REALLY want to be a One and Done when it comes to test day.

Hope everyone has had a great day!

Maybe you could have a section for people to share PDF files so it would be easier for people new to driving, like myself, or anyone in general to find information they might be looking for. I have 3 manuals that I could share myself. One of them is a CLP study guide with highlighted areas that I think are the most important things to know, may be test questions. These are the ones I have.

Other than the High Road on TT this is the best resource I’ve found

To practice, I just kept doing the tests over and over until I would comfortably get 100% on each one. It helped a ton and I only missed 3 out of 95 questions on the exam for my CDP. Hope this helps ya bud @Carrottopops

I assume every class has that one guy who swears he’s been driving trucks since he was 16 but drives too damn fast, can’t shift and gets your blood pressure up every time he drives!

Yall pray for me.. I’m in the back and he’s already ran through a yellow light left turn at 40 and just slammed on his brakes as I’m typing this.

JayP,

Be careful sir. This guy sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Hasn’t the instructor said anything to this clown or at least report him to the front office before he injures someone or himself? He is certainly destined to fail in this occupation.

He’s been told multiple times by the instructor he drives too fast. He has said himself he needs to slow down. He actually made a comment today that he thought he could drive when he first came here and thought this would be a breeze and said he now realizes he can’t. That’s progress, I guess.

He’s not really a bad dude. Definitely deals with some ADHD and grew up in his daddy’s rich pocket, but not a terrible guy. Just needs to calm down. He talked nonstop for 4 hours in the truck today.

I had such a headache by the time we got back to the yard for lunch, I couldn’t wait to get out of the truck.

On a lighter note, my pre trip instructor said my pre trip was one of the best he’d seen in a long time and it was on par with his. He seems to think I’m ready for this test on Tuesday and will be a one and done. Felt good to recieve such a compliment.

JayP,
Maybe I was too quick in response to the way I read the post. Sorry if I came off too aggressive towards him. After reading your reply it makes a lot of sense that he just needs an attitude adjustment and take his time and consider what he is doing wrong. Have a good night.
